Heritage Music Press creates and supplies sheet music and resources for various areas of music education. Choirs, music classes and beyond for student musicians of all ages. Heritage Music Press needed a rebrand to encompass all their offerings, allow them to standout in their market and capture their unique approach.
During an initial discovery meeting, Heritage Music Press described themselves as the "eat your vegetables" approach to music education. We hung onto this idea because it was what made them unique in the space. What they were getting at by that statement was a "building on fundamentals approach" to learning music. Heritage's approach applies to musicians ranging from small children to senior adult choirs. A sense of fundamental simplicity was key in informing the brand tone and style. We started by developing a positioning statement and then a brand mark based on these themes.
With a positioning statement to guide us, we developed a few brand mark options that reflected the core of what Heritage Music Press offers. The selected option was an "H" inspired by a sheet music element that represents the beginning and end of a bar of music... Building lifelong musicians. Brand elements were built from the foundation of the simple, fundamental, basic shapes. These visuals supported the idea that musicians learn best from simple, fundamental, lessons that compound over time. We developed a brand guide, supporting visual assets, secondary logos, and icons. The brand guide and kit were used to help the Heritage Music Press internal marketing and production teams implement the brand day-to-day.
